Historical Accuracy of The War Between Us The War Between Us is a relatively accurate drama to what had actually happened to Japanese immigrants or Nikkei in Canada during the Japanese Internments period. At first, the Kawashima family and other Japanese residences of Vancouver register at local police department. They are then forcibly uprooted from their Vancouver home and successful business by the Canadian government and sent to a mining camp deep in the province's interior. According to other documents handed out to us by Ms. Matthews, Japanese had only a few hours to leave their homes, the RCMP knock on doors at all hours of night. Families were broken up; the female, children and elders went to interior towns; the male went to abandoned West Kootenay mining towns. Aya Kawashima, the eldest child, gets a job working as a housekeeper for her neighbours Peg and Ed Parnham. Peg treats her...
