... Urban Dance Street dance is used to describe dance terms that take place outside the studio like in the streets, school yards and nightclub. They are often unrehearsed and they promote contact and interaction with the spectator and other dancers. Dancers interpret the existing moves freely and even invent knew ones to create a personal style of their own. The word 'vernacular dance' or street dance is used as an umbrella term to describe a lot of different style of urban dances such as; * Hip hop * * B-boy * Popping * * Locking * Krumping * * Freestyle * Break dance * Dance hall Street dance began appearing in the United States in the 1970's and is still active and developing within hip hop culture today.
