Comparative essay The title of my devised piece is Resentment. The piece is about young catholic birthmothers being forced into adoption by their parents. It is based on the stimulus of oppression in society. There is a main oppressor and a main character that is oppressed but each character is being oppressed in some way. The piece is set in modern day but jumps from 1985 to the present day and in England. I will be comparing my devised piece to The Caucasian Chalk Circle by Bertolt Brecht. This play is set after the Second World War in a badly shelled Caucasian village. I will be comparing the themes and styles Brecht uses in the play to the ones that are used in the devised piece. I will also be linking and comparing the theme of oppression with 'theatre of the oppressed'. This is a type of forum theatre created...
