The task we were given was to provide a close reading of Act 2 Scene 2 of "Measure for Measure" by Shakespeare. We had to work in small groups to study the text, and then present our thoughts and opinions of the play in the form of an oral presentation. In this presentation we had to consider and discuss this question, "If you were a director of Act 2 Scene 2 how would you advice 21st century actors to perform?" In our answer we discussed the use of language, the use of dramatic devices, movement, gestures and tone of certain lines, the use of props, lighting, costumes and sounds. We also considered what the play told the play told the audience about the moral, cultural and religious attitudes during Shakespearian times.
