What is the significance of Old Major's speech in Chapter one? What persuasive techniques does he use to influence his audience? In chapter one, Old major, the prize Middle White boar, approached all his fellow farm animals with an important speech, which had a strong influence on his audience, as it awoke them, and helped them realize what sort of miserable life they are living in and how they are, in fact, capable of living a far better life. His speech was in a way the reason for a big turning point in the animals' lives. The speech, as intended, is very inspiring and encouraging to the tired, troubled farm animals. However, the idea he brings before these animals is only an ideal- the animals don't know it yet, so although the speech has strong persuasive aspects in it, the naivety of Old Major is not revealed to the animals.
