SAW Saw, directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannel stars Cary Elwes and Leigh Whannel and is a low budget, horror/thriller. The storyline follows two men, Dr Gordon and Adam that awaken from a drugged sleep to find themselves chained in a room with a dead body. They have six hours to figure out how to escape and save Dr Gordon's family and are only given a few select items to help them, a hacksaw, a bullet and a tape player with instructions. I have chosen to analyse the opening four minutes of this film. The Mise-en-scene in this section of the film is very simplistic.
