English Coursework- Dorian Gray Piece Do you think Dorian Gray truly loves Sibyl Vane? Comment on his language and actions in Chapter 7. Dorian Gray is a character from Oscar Wilde's book, "A picture of Dorian Gray"; which was written in 1891. Dorian is a young; wealthy, handsome man obsessed with staying forever young, he is engaged to Sibyl Vane a very poor however, extremely beautiful actress. Dorian approached Sibyl after an excellent performance, backstage at the theatre, and very soon, proposes to marry her. His attraction to her, her looks and acting is evident in Chapter 6, where he states, "When she came on in her boy's clothes she was perfectly wonderful". This quote tells us that he likes her looks and the clothes she's wearing and also her performance. Later Dorian also states; 'She is divine beyond all living things'; this quote further backs up my theory that...
