Analysis of the opening sequences to 'Goldfinger' and 'True Lies' and comparing the ways they hook the audience and establish narrative. I am going to compare the opening sequences to the films 'Gold Finger' (1964) starring Sean Connery and 'True Lies' (1994) starring Arnold Schwarzenegger. Both the films have a similar opening sequence because True Lies is a spoof of the James Bond films. In Goldfinger the purpose of the introduction is to explain to the audience who James Bond is, and what kind of life he is living. In True Lies the opening sequences introduce the audience to the main character Harry Tasker and what his job is. The audience is also introduced to various other characters like Juno Skinner (Tia Carrere) who they will meet further on in the movie.
