"Gladiator" This is an analysis of the blockbuster film "Gladiator". The film is an epic from the roman era. It was directed by the same director as 'Alien', 'Blade Runner', 'Thelma and Louise' and 'Hannibal' Ridley Scott. It won an Oscar for best effects and a BAFTA for best film. John Mattison was in charge of cinematography he also worked on 'Hannibal'. Hans Zimmer and Lisa Gerrard composed the music with Extracts from 'The Planets' by Gustavo Holst. The opening sequence of 'Gladiator' launches immediately into developing the audiences perception of the main character in the film, Maximus played by Russell Crowe. The establishing shot is a close up of Maximus' hand running through the corn in a field. We see his wedding ring, by the fact he is wearing it we know he has a family and he cares for them, this helps build his character also the...
