... Ricki Lambert Communications Technology LAN Technologies Introduction In this assignment I shall be looking at the various different network topologies. A topology is the way in which items are arranged. This assignment will cover three topologies, the bus, the star and the ring. The Bus The bus topology can work ideally with a maximum of 10 computers. The problem with the network is the sending of information. It is possible to send information from one computer to another, however when sending more than one piece of information at a time collisions will occur. The fundamentals of this mean that large networks would suffer information clashes. For example if computer A wished so send information to B then it would have to pass through every computer this is very slow. Also each end of the bus cable would need to be connected to a terminator (the bus is a coaxial cable). The terminator would prevent information
