A Level Classics Defined

Part of the Arts and Humanities curriculum, A Level Classics addresses the historical world and its texts, including Roman Britain and Greek historians.

Why Study Classics at A Level?

It is the course to study for students wishing to deepen their understanding of ancient literature, archaeology, art, architecture, society and culture.

A Level Classics: What Will I Study?

The topics you might analyse in your essays and coursework may include Latin and classical Greek verse and prose, Roman society and thought, and comic drama in the ancient world.

Further Study After A Level

The essays, assignments and coursework you'll complete during your A Level Classics course could lead into, among others, a Degree in Classics, English Literature or Art History.

Recent Reviews of Classics Essays

What our users think of the Classics essays in this section:

"A reasonable attempt at a plan for these two methods. In each case, the method is described clearly in an appropriate style, and the general justification for the method is fairly robust. It's very positive to see some example calculations included for each method, demonstrating that the author understands the experiment as a whole. However, notable improvements could be made in a few ways. The report would greatly benefit from a little expansion on the introductory theory of the reaction to demonstrate the author's understanding. In addition, given that two distinct methods are discussed, it would be useful for some element of a comparison between the two methods to be included within the plan (to be expanded upon within the analysis following data collection).
