Qualitative test- flame tests Introduction For this test I had five containers labelled A-E. Each containing a metal salt. I had to find out which metal is used in each of the five unknown salts by using a metal loop placing it in the unknown salts and testing it by putting the metal under a roaring Bunsen flame Safety Points • Wear googols all the time when doing the experiment as hydrochloric acid can go in your eye. • Stand up when doing the experiment at all times as your have more time to move away from an accident. • Close the container after you have finishing using it. • Wash your hand after the experiment. • When you have finish using the Bunsen burner change the flame to a safety flame • Fold sleeves up and be careful not to put your arm over the Bunsen flame.
