Combustion of Alcohols - Chemistry Coursework Planning In this coursework I shall be calculating the amount of change in enthalpy used by an alcohol to heat water by 15oC. To complete this coursework I shall use the following equipment: safety glasses, a calorimeter to hold the water, various sprit burners using a different alcohol in each, a thermometer to measure the change in temperature, a clamp to hold the calorimeter, and a system to which will reduce the amount of heat lost in this experiment. The amount of water that will be used will be 100cm3. The change in temperature will be 15oC. I shall also use the minimum of three different alcohols. The reason for using three different alcohols is that I can see the difference of the alcohols by the difference in enthalpy changes.
