International Business Economics Coursework Part 1 Introduction The chain of stores, Next, was established in 1981 as a womenswear store before expanding to menswear in 1984 and household furnishings in 1985. The Next brand is targeted at the top end of the mass market Next designs its own products and sells them under its own label by two methods of shopping: High Street Stores and Home Shopping, which includes the Internet. Next Plc also includes their subsidiary Ventura and have just recently sold off their Clydesdale Financial Services business. The Next brand is split into numerous divisions with turnover figures for 2001 for each being as follows: NEXT Retail 1,127 million; NEXT Directory 300.9 million; NEXT Overseas 16.2 million; Ventura 100.0 million; Clydesdale (Discontinued) 17.5 million; other activities 26.9 million.
