CONGLOMERATES! All businesses have an objective. For all it is first survival followed by making money. A conglomerate is a firm, which is comprised of a series of disconnected businesses. This provides the strength derived from diversification but has the potential weakness of a lack of focus. The modern approach to the management of a conglomerate is to delegate power very extensively to the different businesses within the group.
