History In the year of 1963, Chuck Schwab, founder and CEO of Charles Schwab and Company, launched his first idea: The Investment Indicator. This was an investment advisory letter that eventually led the way to his success. The 3,000 subscribers agreed to pay $84 per year to subscribe to this helpful financial news (Schwab.com). On May 1st, 1975, Chuck decides to travel the road not yet taken. Instead of following the common start-up practices of other firms by seizing opportunities to make commissions, he instead creates a unique discount brokerage. Two years after the development of his new kind of brokerage, Schwab opens up his first office in Seattle and the company begins to offer seminars for customers.
