... Antigua Antigua is located in the middle of the Leeward Islands in the Eastern Caribbean. To the south are the islands of Montserrat and Guadeloupe, and to the north and west are Nevis, St. Kitts, St. Barts, and St. Martin. Antigua is the largest of the English-speaking Islands and is about 14 miles long and 11 miles wide. Its highest point is Boggy Peak which is located in the southwestern corner of the island. The current population is 68,000 and its capital is St. John's. Temperatures generally range from the mid-seventies in the winter to the mid-eighties in the summer. Annual rainfall averages only 45 inches, making it the sunniest of the Eastern Caribbean Islands, and winds are nearly constant, flagging which causes low humidity year-round. There are lots of things to do when people visit Antigua; this is because it is such a diverse island that is suited for many types of tourist.
