CONSUMER BEHAVIOR Implicit predictors of consumer behavior Submitted on: 02-03-2005 Submitted by: Sarah Nasir BBA VI 02ba18 When we deal with consumer behavior, one of the important aspects with reference to human psychology is determining and understanding the underlying implicit and explicit behaviors. Explicit knowledge refers to consciously held beliefs about an individual or object that often draws on the remembering of experiences in the past. Implicit knowledge on the other hand deals with the cognitive associations that a consumer holds between two constructs that exist outside his/her conscious awareness. There is a certain identification or association of a product in the unconscious memory of the person. E.g. when patients are being operated upon and given common anesthesia, they tend to remember hazy details about the operation theatre because they are aware unconsciously such as a bright light or a people screaming or a buzzing sound.
