Legal Constraints General Operates Legislation The Trade Descriptions Act 1968 This makes it illegal for a business to provide false or misleading descriptions of their products or services. This requirement will be easy to uphold. It mainly applies to businesses selling goods, which claim they can do something that it cannot. The Sale of Goods Act 1979 This states that goods must be of merchantable quality, as described in their advertisements and fit for their purpose. As the business and its service are being promoted it will be a requirement for it to make sure that the goods are of good enough quality to be sold publicly and are what is advertised.
