Assignment 1 As a part of my course requirement, I completed 3 school visits. For 3 consecutive weeks I visited the year 5/6 class from 9am until 11am on a Thursday, at Mayfield West Demonstration School. During my visits, as a result of my previous study of the Information Processing Model (IPM), I was able to draw links between the IPM and the teaching strategies used by the teacher in order to ensure all her students were learning to their full potential. A widely accepted theory which addresses the way people absorb, process and retain information, the Information Processing Model arose out of the development of cognitive psychology in the 1950's. It focuses on the way people take in, process and act on information, taking into consideration attention, perception and memory.
