Introduction: Enzymes are protein substances made within the cells of an organism; they control vital biological processes. They often act as catalysts, speeding up chemical reactions without being altered themselves. Enzymes work best at different optimum conditions i.e. temperature and pH. Aim: My aim is to determine how temperature can effect a chemical reaction of a substrate and enzyme, in this case the substrate being egg white and the enzyme, trypsin. Background Information: Biological catalyst produced in cells, and capable of speeding up the chemical reactions necessary for life. They are large, complex proteins, and are highly specific, each chemical reaction requiring its own particular enzyme.
