The Effect of Enzyme Concentration on Enzyme Activity Introduction: In patients who suffer from the genetic disease cystic fibrosis their pancreatic duct frequently becomes blocked. With this becoming blocked is prevents the release of pancreatic enzymes into the small intestines. Background Information: Cystic fibrosis is one of the most common genetic disease, usually as a result of lung damage. It is a serious condition caused by 'faulty' genes, most serious genetic disorders are very rare, but when it does occur it has great effects on the persons life and on the lives of their family. Everyone has a layer of mucus in the tubes of the gaseous exchange system, its normally a thin coating of muccus in these dust. Any microorganisms or particles in the aire such as dust which enter the airways when we inhale become trapped in the mucus and cilia removes this by performing a wave-like beating which lines the tubes of the...
