Nutrition What is nutrition? It is the intake of all organic materials necessary for providing raw materials and energy. We should have a diet that provides us with energy and raw materials through organic and inorganic sources in the correct proportion. Malnutrition is the excess or shortage of the intake of necessary nutrients in the right proportions. Organic nutrients: 1. Carbohydrates 2. Proteins 3. Fats 4. Vitamins Inorganic nutrients: 1. Inorganic ions 2. Water Why do we need to eat? 1. We need the food to provide us with energy to be able to perform daily activities. The chief suppliers of energy in our body are carbohydrates and fats. Proteins can also give energy if required. 2. Food also provides us with building materials to repair and build cells in our bodies. The nutrients that provide us with building materials are them proteins, also fats, vitamins, carbohydrates. 3.
