Aim: To investigate the relationship between temperature and reaction rate of enzymes. Hypothesis: I think that the rate of reaction will increase with temperature until the temperature reaches 40C. It will then slow down fairy rapidly. It will decrease at around 40C because this is body temperature and the enzymes are designed to work best at body temperature. After this temperature the active site will become denatured so the enzyme will not work as well. Variables: Independent variable: Temperature this is the independent variable because it is the variable that we are changing. Dependent variable: reaction rate this is the depend variable because it changes as a result of the other variable. Controlled variables: Concentration of amylase and starch: if you add more concentrated starch in a test it will take longer because there will be more starch to digest. If you add more amylase then the reaction will go quicker because...
