Analysis of Plasmolosis using sucrose solution From the observations, the recordings of the total number of visible cells, and the number of these cells that were plasmolysed, were made. From these results, it was possible to calculate percentages of cells plasmolysed for each concentration. % of cells plasmolysed = (No. of cells plasmolysed / No. of cells counted) x 100 These percentage values are important, because they allow the number of cells plasmolysed at each concentration to be compared relative to the total number of visible cells. From these percentage values, a graph can be plotted of "Concentration of external sucrose solution" against "Percentage of cells plasmolysed". The appropriate graph for these results is a line graph, because a line of best fit, or curve, needs to be drawn, so that the exact value of concentration which causes incipient plasmolysis can be read off.
