A piece of coursework investigating the factors, which affect the enzyme catalase. Introduction In this piece of Coursework I shall being trying to determine whether or not the variables Copper Sulphate (CuSO4) and Water (H2O) affects the amount of oxygen given off when they are mixes with Liver (which contains the enzyme catalase) and have Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) added to it. Other variables that may effect the reaction are the amount of liver and the amount of Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2) I shall keep both of these constant. Prediction I predict that when the concentration of the Copper Sulphate (CuSO4) in the Copper Sulphate (CuSO4) and Water (H2O) solution increases the less oxygen will be let off. This is because the Copper Sulphate will affect the pH and will denature the enzyme called catalase found in the liver cells.
