"How Far is Far Enough" These days, scientists are always developing new ways to modify foods and crops so they grow faster, have a different colour, shape, size and texture in ways that cut costs and please customers - Or does it?? Now days there are divided opinions amongst the public whether or not genetic engineering is a good thing. Now days there are many products on the market that have been genetically engineered in some way. For example milk. On some dairy farms, cows are given a genetically engineered growth hormone (which is called "rBST/rBGH"), which is designed to boost the production in milk glands, which in turn increases the amount of milk the cow produces. If this hormone gets into humans - especially pregnant women, it can overwork the milk glands causing them to become exhausted and can damage them. The hormone doesn't dramatically increase the amount of milk production...
