Question: What are the currently available options for overcoming genetic diseases and why they pose problems for society? Introduction A Genetic disorder can be caused by environmental and genetic factors, which have roles in the development of any disease. Basically a genetic disorder is a disease, which is caused by an abnormality in a person's genetic material. There are four different types of genetic disorder, which are: 1. Single-Gene: - This type of genetic disorder is caused by changes or mutations that occur in the DNA. Examples of this type of disorder would be Huntington's disease, Sickle Cell Anaemia and Cystic Fibrosis. 2. Multifactorial: - This type of genetic disorder is caused by a combination of environmental mutations in more than one gene. Examples of this type of genetic disorder would be Arthritis, High Blood Pressure and Cancer 3. Chromosomal: - As chromosomes are carriers of genetic material, abnormalities occur when the chromosome structure...
