An investigation into the effect of the water content of soil in a water meadow, has on the abundance and distribution of two species of buttercup, Ranunculus bulbosus and Ranunculus acris. Introduction The two species of buttercup I shall be looking at are Ranunculus bulbosus and Ranunculus acris. Ranunculus bulbosus, Kingdom Plantae, Phylum Magnoliophyta, Class Magnoliopsida, Order Ranunculales, Family Ranunculaceae, Genus Ranunculus, Species R. bulbosus. Also known as the bulbous buttercup, it has yellow flowers, and grows in lawns, pastures and fields and prefers nutrient poor, dry soils. Ranunculus acris, Kingdom Plantae, Phylum Magnoliophyta, Class Magnoliopsida, Order Ranunculales, Family Ranunculaceae, Genus Ranunculus, Species R. acris. Also known as the meadow buttercup, it is a hairy plant that has glossy yellow flowers and prefers normal soils.
