The scientific process that took place to make this genetic modification possible is called electroporation. In this process cell wall degrading enzymes are used to degenerate the cell wall. After this, the cell is placed into a solution and is turned into a protoplast. An electric current is then sent through the solution, which opens the cell's pores, and allow the genes to enter.
