Genetic Engineering- Life Saving opportunity or Life Altering Risk? Genetic engineering has opened a whole new world for us; it is enabling scientists to change the DNA of living organisms, and ultimately the way in which we currently live. With their new found ability scientists can alter an organisms original DNA and give them new traits, for example increasing the growing rate of tomatoes. Recently the Government has given permission for scientists to clone human embryos in order to further their research; if cloning became legal it could help many anguished people, but is it right to use a living creature as the price? Those who support Genetic engineering claim that it could cure disease and dreadful illnesses and prevent death, such as a baby who had leukaemia.
