Cloning: medical breakthrough or a step to far? In this day and age there are three types of cloning available these being: Embryo cloning: This is a medical treatment that produces two or more identical embryos. From a fertilised Embryo one of more cells are removed and then encouraged to grow into one or more duplicate Embryos. Thus identical embryos are produced with identical DNA structures. Adult DNA Cloning: Also known as 'Cell Nuclear Replacement' is the procedure used to clone Dolly the sheep. The process involves the DNA of an embryo being removed and then replaced by the DNA of an adult of the same species. This embryo is then implanted into a womb where it is left to develop fully. Therapeutic Cloning: This procedure starts off like 'Adult DNA Cloning' but instead of the embryo being left to develop fully, after 14 days its stem cells are removed...
