Gem Jones Cloning - The advantages and disadvantages Cloning is defined as "producing a cell or organism with the same nuclear genome as another cell or organism". In the early 1950s scientists began cloning frogs. For the first time in 1996, a team of scientists cloned an adult mammal - Dolly the Sheep. No one has managed to clone a Human Being yet but the possibility of doing so became a step closer to reality. However, there are many scientific groups who have announced that they plan to do so. There are many advantages to cloning, and several reasons why it would be necessary to do so. If people are exceptionally intelligent, or exceptionally attractive or possess a desired quality then to clone this person would create more of the same intelligent/attractive people. It is easy to understand why people would want to clone a Human and why with honourable intentions...
