The dictionary definition of the word Eucharist is "a sacrament in which the worshipper is united to Christ by partaking of consecrated bread and wine." (The Penguin English Dictionary 3rd Edition) The Eucharist is also often referred to as the Liturgy, Last Supper and Mass. To evaluate this statement we must look at factors both for and against it before drawing a conclusion. Some people might believe that Christ cannot be present within the Eucharist as he cannot be seen and he died over two thousand years ago. When the Eucharist is celebrated it is just a memorial of Christ's death in the same way as a funeral. This is a similar idea to that of Christmas where people know the story of the birth of Christ but they do not believe that he is...
