Osmosis Investigation Aim: To investigate how the concentration of a sucrose solution affects the length of a potato chip. The length will be measured after 24 hours. Prediction: In this particular experiment, I think the lower the concentration of the sucrose in the test tube the greater the length of the potato, because of the potato tissues being surrounded by a weak solution, will be most likely to swell up and become turgid, taking in all the water it can possibly take in. However this can work vice versa, because as you increase the sucrose concentration then the potato length will decrease, this is due to the potato tissues being surrounded by a stronger solution therefore the water diffusing out of the potato into the solution.
