Investigation into whether water content of soil affects the abundance of different types of buttercups Basic Plan and Aim In this investigation I will be investigating the abundance of two species of buttercups Ranunculus repens and Ranunculus bulbosus, otherwise known as the creeping buttercup and the bulbous buttercup respectively. The area that I will be investigating in order to see how the water content of soil affects the abundance of these plant is a water meadow in Gunthorpe. I will be taking a belt transect from the edge of the river into the field in order the get soil with different contents as it is expected that the soil closest to the river will have a higher water content than that further into the field.
