"It was in fact Earl R. Dean who was the designer of the iconic bottle, not Samuelson. This is an error often made since Samuelson was the man who was dispatched to file for the contour bottle's first patent in 1915. This of course resulted in his name being recorded on the 1915 patent. Back in those days, it was not unusual for a company to put someone other that the actual inventor on their patents. Matter a fact, in 1923, when Earl R. Dean made a small modification to the bottle, the patent was renewed and Chapman J. Root, owner of the Glass Root Company, had his name put on the 1923 patent.
